Road Trip! Days 4-6

We spent the first three days of our visiting with my side of the family. On Saturday we had a lovely visit with my brother and his wife. My other brother was there with most of his family, and we had a great time catching up.
My sister in law is very creative, and lunch was delicious. Both my brother and his wife have talents when it comes to cooking, and also home decorating. I really enjoyed seeing their home, and appreciating the beauty of it. I wish I was that creative. Their garden is incredible, and we took quite a few tangelos home with us. Yum! Here are a few photos of the children in the backyard, with another attempt at a cool photo….
That night we went down Christmas Tree Lane, which is a big tradition where I grew up. We got in the car and sloowwly drove down this street where there are over 150 homes decorated. I looked forward to sharing this with our children so very much, and it was awesome.
The next day, Jode and I took all the children (well, save one who was ill) to the church where we had gotten married. We saw several people there who we had not seen in years and years, and what treat that was! We spoke with a few of the young men who we ministered to when they were in Junior High School-they were all married with children! What fun it was to see them, and also their parents. That was a real treat too. We returned back to my parents for more visiting, a bit of shopping preparing for Christmas, and just hanging out.
Christmas we spent with my family, and that was a real blessing. My parents were very content to have us all over, and both brothers and their children came. The traditional opening of gifts, eating, etc. and the day rounded out nicely. Here are the cookies Ben and Will left out for Santa, along with a photo of the tree and fireplace there.
The next morning we headed out to see Jode’s family….more later!
