Autumn

By Jenny | September 22, 2006

Our school has begun again, and I think it is starting off better than our last few years. It is so great to have the children get back into learning, and to not have something major looming on the horizon (just little things like surgery, moving, home renovation, etc.).

This summer we: drove around Nebraska a lot (very early in the mornings, most of the time), finished our unpacking-mostly, drove to Albany, NY for a wedding, had some of our good friends from California stay the night with us on their way to Minneapolis, had a visit from Jode’s mom, and got to know our town in general. Overall, I would say it has been a very nice summer-weather has been good (only one or two tornado scares), and I love Nebraska. I cannot believe the joy it brings me to drive over the roads and see for miles and miles.

What are we all up to?

Jode-working now in Lincoln. The commute seems to be something of an oddity to the locals (”and WHY do you live where your husband has to commute 30minutes?”). They don’t get that he used to ride the train two hours each way to NYC, every day. Jode is enjoying his work, as a computer network administrator.

Jennifer-at home, working only one day a week at the big Starbucks. I got my first review, which was good. That was nice, as I have had some struggles adjusting to this particular store. Great staff, but still some struggles in learning the drive-thru, etc. I am enjoying the process of teaching all six children this year (and brother, is it a process!), as William has officially started preschool. As all four year olds are, he always wants school to go longer.

Jode and Jennifer-doing marvellously! The Lord has really healed some major issues in our relationship. It is wonderful to be entering a season of peace.

Cori-working at the local grocery store, finishing her senior year, applying to colleges, and disliking tae kwon do tremendously. Reading comic books, and the Peloponnesian Wars in her spare time. (!)

Nathan-trying to find a job, and enjoying tae kwon do as much as Cori does not like it. Nate has grown taller than Jode, and I confess one of my favorite things to see is Nathan holding William in his lap and talking to him. Nate is an awesome big brother.

Anna-working away at school, before she enters the high school years next year. She got a kitten this summer, and has been enjoying her thoroughly. She is also writing about 500 pages a day in her stories. Well, maybe not 500, but a goodly amount.

Cassie-adjusting to the educational demands of junior high school. Cassie is very creative, and loves to sew, or just do art projects with anyone she can rope in. She, too, is enjoying Anna’s cat; especially when the cat wakes Cassie up in the middle of the night. Lovely!

Ben-loves to plink away on our piano that came with the house. He enjoys his room with William, and is great to read to. Even better, to listen to him read. He reads very well, and it begins to look as if he will write very well also.

William-loves his preschool curriculum. He cannot wait to have someone play with him, read to him, be with him, etc. What a wonder to have him so talkative, and eager to learn to read after all he has been through.

Jode and I are starting up with the college group at church, and are enjoying beginning to minister again. Another wonder from God.

Really and truly, I personally (Jennifer) post more on my blog, so do keep up with us there too. I will try to post here more, in general (in all that spare time I have! lol)

See you later!
